On the first week of Christmas

This is our first Christmas homeschooling. I decided to make it a relaxed play learning month instead of the usual school that we had been doing since the start of the year. A break for both the kids and myself.
For morning work, we focused on a Christmas carol a week. We listened to the carol daily for a week along with other songs for morning worship. We also traced one stanza of the carol and did a drawing to accompany it.

We had an advent countdown banner and a countdown sheet which we had drawn 24 lines on leading up to baby Jesus in a manger. We erased one line a day and wrote 'Happy Birthday, Jesus!' on the 25th of December.
Making this a yearly tradition for our family because it felt so lovely to do that. :)
On our learning shelves were books for the season and various Christmas activities in gift boxes (an idea from Let's Play School).
I also had a theme for each week of our month of Christmas activities. This made it easier to plan and prepare the activities for the week.
The first week was 'Christmas tree'
In the gift boxes were:
Christmas ornaments to decorate our tree.
A felt Christmas tree that I had made by cutting out the shapes of each tier of the tree from green felt and a brown square for the stump. I threw in a handful of buttons and some bric brac for the kids to decorate the felt tree.
An assortment of tubs of playdough and some beads for decorating a Christmas tree worksheet in a dry erase pocket.
